Ardagh's Centre of Excellence partners with Cape Town charities

Published: July 11, 2023

Ardagh’s Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Cape Town, South Africa, is not just a skills development, training, and global IT service provider. It is rooted in our commitment to investing in education and making a positive difference by developing skills and growing jobs for South African youth. To further demonstrate our commitment to the region, we have partnered with several charities in Cape Town – all close to the CoE – that focus on education, development and social welfare.

Education is not only fundamental to childhood development, but it also spurs innovation, creates opportunities and drives long-term growth in any country. Food security goes hand-in-hand with education; hungry children do not perform well at school. Social Sustainability is a key pillar of Ardagh’s sustainability strategy, firmly focused on supporting our people and our communities. Ardagh is delighted to partner with the following charities in Cape Town, South Africa:

  • iThemba School Capricorn is a pre-primary school that bridges the educational gap for three- to six-year-olds, providing education, English tutoring and three nutritious meals a day.
  • Baphumelele gives temporary shelter for vulnerable and orphaned children and youth with chronic diseases such as HIV/AIDS, providing essential development skills, early childhood care, and healthcare information.
  • Sisanda FunDaytion is a not-for-profit organisation focused on boosting the mental health of vulnerable children and youth by helping them to strengthen connections and to learn and grow through recreation and play.
  • Operation Hunger recognises the basic human right to nutrition. Their strategy aims to address the triple burden of malnutrition: undernutrition, both stunting and wasting; deficiencies in vitamins and other micronutrients; and obesity and other diet-related non-communicable diseases.
