Ardagh Glass Germany announce over 40 new apprenticeship programmes
Published: August 6, 2020
More than 40 new apprentices begin their apprenticeship programme this month in eight of our German glass facilities.
Every year, our glass team in Germany proudly offer a number of apprenticeship programmes to student candidates. An apprenticeship runs for up to three and a half years and is a combination of studying at vocational school and experience at work. During the first year, candidates can work across various departments at Ardagh to explore the many options available to them. Following their first year of work rotations, they may progress to exciting roles working in our glass facilities including: a process mechanic, an industrial mechanic or a warehouse logistics specialist for our glass business.
We also run a student placement programme for undergraduates, studying either a Business Administration or Industrial Engineering degree. Undergraduates attend their university courses while gaining experience at Ardagh, working across multiple departments and projects to prepare them for their future careers.
Tom Decker, Ardagh’s Apprenticeship Manager in Germany, explains: “We are delighted to be certified as a best place to learn employer. We train and prepare our apprentices to the highest standards so they may establish their future careers. We are also the first glass manufacturer in Germany to use virtual reality to train our apprentices, this enables us to deliver a unique and innovative learning experience.”
Following the completion of the programme and upon graduation, more than 80% of graduates undertake a full-time job at one of our German glass production facilities. Annually our team in Germany proudly supports more than 135 young apprentices in their early careers.
