Ardagh awarded ENERGY STAR Certification

Ardagh Group’s distribution centre in Fairfield, California, was recently awarded the ENERGY STAR® building certification for superior energy performance from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). This is the fourth year that the facility has earned the ENERGY STAR certification, reflecting a legacy of continued energy savings.

The Fairfield distribution centre primarily serves Ardagh’s distribution needs in the West Coast to better service the wine, food and beverage industries.

“Ardagh Group is honoured to earn the ENERGY STAR building certification,” said Bertrand Paulet, President and CEO for Ardagh Group’s North American Glass division. “We remain committed to conserving energy and protecting the environment and the community in which we operate, both today and for future generations.”

ENERGY STAR certified buildings and plants are verified to perform in the top 25 percent of buildings nationwide, based on weather-normalised source energy use that takes into account occupancy, hours of operation, and other key metrics. ENERGY STAR is the only energy efficiency certification in the United States that is based on actual, verified energy performance.

On average, ENERGY STAR certified buildings and plants use 35 percent less energy, cause 35 percent fewer greenhouse gas emissions, and are less expensive to operate than their peers—all without sacrifices in performance or comfort.
